Why you should consider a career with Newman Stewart

John Tilbrook

Newman Stewart is a boutique, specialist, firm of head-hunters, serving clients in industrial sectors around the globe. After several years of solid performance and outperforming the market, we’re now looking to increase our growth trajectory over the next few years. That means we need to hire the best in the business to come and build their careers with Newman Stewart.

Next week I’ll share some of the reasons our team think Newman Stewart is a great place to work. But for now, allow me to share just some of the reasons why I think we’re a great place to grow your career…

Wellbeing and culture

We maintain a culture of mutual respect, well-being and hard work. Recruitment is difficult, and we all work long hours to achieve our goals. So, we don’t add unnecessary pressure by hosting boozy social events or ‘forced fun’ out of hours. We do host a weekly free group PT session at the office so you can get outside and challenge yourself, if you want to.

Every quarter we get outside and do something adventurous for our offsites, as well as reflecting on the quarter just gone and the one to come.

Retained work with loyal clients

We only work on retained roles that are mission-critical. So we have time to build meaningful relationships with both our clients and our candidates.

Our search process is transparent, thorough and produces results. There’s a reason 96% of our clients come back to use us again and we have a world-class Net Promoter Score

A delivery model which produces results

Our delivery team spend their time sourcing candidates to fill retained roles, which means they can focus their attention on building meaningful relationships with their candidates.

We are, first and foremost, head-hunters, so the majority of the candidates we speak to are high-performing, employed and not looking for a new role. This means we need to think creatively, sometimes outside the box, be solutions-orientated, proactive and positive to fill the vacancy requirement we are mandated to fulfil.

Pay, benefits, progression and commission

We give you access to the very best people to support you and your development. We also pride ourselves in offering generous base salaries and bonuses. Associate consultants can earn up to £35k base depending on their experience, with up to 45% bonus, car allowance and healthcare benefits.

At Newman Stewart, we love to promote from within. Our three directors – Bart, Josephine and Mike – all joined us in either entry or mid-level roles. A quarter of our team has been promoted in the last 12 months, and everyone has a plan in place for the next steps of their careers with Newman Stewart.

Strong financial position

We’re owner-managed, so we don’t have investors or shareholders to answer to, and we’re a well-capitalised business with lots of cash reserves. This means we’re in a strong financial position to weather temporary market fluctuations and we have a healthy financial outlook.

We’re also investing in our people – five of our current staff have recently or are currently studying for further qualifications.

It’s a little bit of a cliché to say that we’re not like other recruitment agencies, but I truly believe that we aren’t like most other recruitment agencies.

If you’re interested in exploring careers with Newman Stewart, I’d love to have a conversation with you – and introduce you to some of the team who will be able to help you understand whether it’s the right option for you.
