As preparations for the PPMA Show 2018 hot up, we thought we’d take the opportunity to celebrate the work we do with many PPMA members and other businesses in the process and packaging machinery and materials handling space, and share some of the reasons why we’re looking forward to attending this year.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the PPMA Show will return to the NEC Birmingham from 25-27 September 2018 to showcase the latest innovations in smart manufacturing, processing technology and packaging machinery. The purpose of the show is to help businesses increase production line efficiencies and enhance business performance and profitability, something which we are equally passionate about. Coming at a time of strength for the UK manufacturing industry - The volume of output in the sector jumped to the strongest this year in the three months through June, according to a recent Confederation of British Industry report - the sector is looking particularly positive.
This positivity is something shared by many of the clients we work with in the sector, some of whom are PPMA members, who are currently expanding their senior teams and looking at how they can position themselves for future growth. Some of the PPMA exhibitors who we currently work with include CME, Gericke, Gordian Strapping, Markem Imaje and TUV Rheinland. The reason they choose Newman Stewart to help with their hiring challenges, is because we have been finding stand out professionals for businesses in the process and packaging machinery sector for many years, and have established a reputation for exceptional service, an impressive network, and success in filling complex vacancies. Most of our clients come to us for help after failing to recruit themselves and lacking the resources and know how to headhunt and target the best candidates - those already employed - with the industry skills and experience they need. We mentioned that like the PPMA, we work to enhance business performance and profitability. We do this every day by fulfilling business critical roles efficiently and effectively. For example, we helped GEA to fulfill 5 senior roles within a year, providing a significant boost to productivity.
The quality of candidates was high calibre and exceeded my expectations. The rigorous screening process Newman Stewart undertook on our behalf meant we could be picky and ensure the right person was sourced. It also saved us a lot of time not having to manage recruitment logistics. Head of Beverage, Food, Dairy Sales, GEA
We recently engaged Newman Stewart on two occasions to search for international strategic account managers. Good quality candidates were identified and appointments were made ahead of schedule. Newman Stewart took the time to thoroughly understand the business context, the role fit and the desired candidate profile. Their broad contact network in relevant target segments enabled them to quickly identify and approach candidates of the right quality. At every step in the process, Newman Stewart made sure that the link between us and the candidate was maintained. Both positions were successfully filled and the new recruits are performing well. Director Strategic Accounts, EMEA, Markem-Imaje
Commenting on the forthcoming show, Dr. Andrew Mint, Chief Executive Officer, PPMA Group of Associations said, “Our 30th anniversary show comes at a time when UK manufacturing is enjoying its longest period of expansion since 1968 and these positive signs will undoubtedly boost confidence throughout our sector. Against this future optimism, the PPMA Show 2018 looks set to be one of the biggest and best to date, where visitors can benefit from an unsurpassed skill set of experience, expertise and industry knowledge and witness the latest processing and packaging technologies in real-time demonstrations.”
We’re really excited to see the addition of the Enterprise Zone this year, which will include a series of educational features including live workshops, presentations, interactive discussions, question and answer sessions and panel debate covering key topical issues and industry trends. Watch this space for the programme being released soon. Lord Mark Price, Minister of State for Trade and Investment, will be delivering this year’s keynote and will bring some great insights from his years as Managing Director of Waitrose and Deputy Chairman of The John Lewis Partnership.
