Our client is £40M business that is the UK subsidiary of an industry-leading global manufacturer. They supply a technical product into a range of industries including telecommunications and power generation and have doubled their supply chain output in the last 3 years. With their 2021 move to a brand-new purpose-built site in Wiltshire they now require a Supply Chain Manager to lead a small team, manage their supplier base, control their purchasing costs, manage the warehousing operation, and coordinate logistics between both themselves and their customers, and between the UK and the organisation's international sites (US and Europe)

To be successful in this application you will have strong hands-on experience of negotiating and a good understanding of inventory planning systems (ideally but not essentially including Oracle). You will be organised and comfortable multi-tasking. While managing a diverse supplier base you will ideally also have experience of coordinating with logistics as this organisation is the European hub with strong links to a number of the company's manufacturing sites in mainland Europe. Willing to be hands on when required you will bring an organised nature with the foresight to see potential issues and to advance plan accordingly. It is highly likely that you will be currently operating in similar position (supply chain manager/procurement manager/distribution manager) in an engineering or manufacturing organisation or have previous experience of doing so. You must be results orientated and passionate about all areas of purchasing, logistics and warehousing.

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide a focal point for all utility engineering issues on major infrastructure projects.
  • To project manage and co-ordinate Utilities diversions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • To review design work to identify easements and other key information at the early stage of projects.
  • To liaise with clients, industry contacts and the HSE to deliver schemes.

Their products are used widely for everyday connectivity, in harsh environments, above and below ground and water. This role will require you to be responsible for the continuous manufacturing of fibre optic cables, wires and associated equipment developing, installing, and monitoring the machinery and its output. You will think on your feet and act fast to resolve any manufacturing issues that may occur and be given the opportunity to develop new processes for bespoke orders.

To be successful you should have experience of shop floor continuous manufacturing in a related industry and possess a high energy, high drive character working as part of a team and taking ownership for your work. Being a team player and thriving on building strong working relationships is essential in this role. While a degree in manufacturing or production engineering is not essential, an equivalent qualification or that gained by experience is essential to the success of your application.
