The Role

Reporting to the Directors, you will be responsible for managing complete contracts from order received through to final takeover. You will liaise with the other engineering disciplines involved in completing projects. You will lead and manage projects through all life cycle phases and will be responsible for regular reporting on schedule and financial costs through each stage.

The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering subject (or equivalent by experience) and have working experience in a relevant industry or experience of working in a project engineering role. A sound knowledge of common process equipment is key to this position, as is a competency in equipment layout drawing preparation and reviewing.

Our client is a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Lincolnshire. It is one of the largest gas-fired CHP power plants in Europe, producing electricity to the National Grid which is then fed on to households across the UK as well as local refineries.

Reporting to the Engineering and Asset Integrity Manager, the role of the Plant Performance Engineer is to providing engineering support to the site in the area of plant performance and efficiency, ensuring that all power station efficiency engineering matters are addressed in a consistent, timely, safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective manner. The absolute optimum efficiency of equipment in terms of performance is within your remit and you will be responsible for advising and making recommendations to the Operations and Maintenance departments, to engineer improvements and solutions through identification of problem areas.

To qualify for this position, you must have extensive experience in engineering or operation of a large CCGT / CHP technology, as well as in depth knowledge of power plant thermodynamics with an understanding of the theory and its practical application and in depth knowledge of instrumentation calibration / testing regimes and types of flow / process measurement.

Educated to HNC/HND level as a minimum in a engineering/process discipline - or have equivalent in terms of experience, you will have extensive experience in the Power Generation industry and ideally be operating in a similar role currently. You can point to significant career success and experience of complex problem solving, be instantly credible with personal and intellectual presence, and possess and excellent ability to communicate at all levels.

Reporting to the Engineering and Asset Integrity Manager the role of the Mechanical Engineer is to ensure that Maintenance and Engineering Project work is completed safely, efficiently and deliver the long-term reliability of the equipment a key consideration. You will be responsible for Mechanical asset management and the development of maintenance / inspection strategies. As a power plant, safety is at the core of the business and you would be accountable for the Health & Safety, Environmental and legislative compliance of Mechanical assets within the plant.

Key elements of the Mechanical Engineer's role include: problem solving and investigation into failures and deterioration mechanisms; preparation of technical specifications and execution of site Mechanical projects safely and within budget; preparation for Mechanical maintenance contracts and work; design authority for discipline engineering modifications. A highly desirable requirement is a detailed knowledge of the range of Mechanical Assets employed at a modern gas fired power plant.

You will ensure Maintenance and Engineering Project work is completed safely, efficiently and deliver the long term reliability of the equipment. You will technically assess, lead and implement plant developments. You will be accountable for high value maintenance contracts and providing engineering expertise toward plant and system development.

Viewed as an internal reference for matters relating to Mechanical Design, you will foster and improve processes by which complex solutions are delivered.

You will hold, or be working towards, a Chartered Engineering qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or be qualified in terms of experience. Experience within the Power Generation industry would be a distinct advantage. You must be instantly credible, with personal and intellectual presence, possess an excellent ability to communicate and impressive personal credentials and history of continuous self-development. Ideally you will be currently operating in a similar role.

You are responsible for Control and Instrumentation asset management and the development of maintenance strategies. As a power plant, safety is at the core of the business and you are accountable for the Health & Safety, Environmental and legislative compliance of EC&I assets within the plant.

Key elements of the EC&I Engineer's role include: problem solving and investigation into failures and deterioration mechanisms; preparation of technical specifications and execution of site EC&I projects safely and within budget; preparation for EC&I maintenance contracts and work; design authority for discipline engineering modifications. A key requirement is a detailed knowledge in the field of DCS, instrumentation equipment and a sound understanding of the theory and practice associated with Safety system, Safety Integrity Levels, ATEX compliance, analysis and measurement, control systems.
