The client

GEA is one of the largest suppliers of process technology for the food industry and a wide range of other industries. The international technology group focuses on process technology and components for sophisticated production processes in various end-user markets.

The challenge

With a complex sales process, GEA needed a skilled and experienced sales professional, with industry knowledge, to fill a high responsibility sales role managing budgets in the region of £5 to £15 million. The Managing Director had used Newman Stewart previously and knew that we had the expertise to find what they were looking for.

The process

The client relationship is extremely important to us and something that we develop throughout the recruitment process in order to build long term trust. By taking the time to understand GEA’s objectives, we were able to think about the best approach to finding the ideal candidate, even if that meant going slightly off brief. A number of candidates were screened before offering up 4 candidates who didn’t all meet the brief, but who through our experience in the materials handling sector, we knew were exceptionally talented.


We have now successfully filled 5 senior Sales roles for GEA and continue to work with them to provide skilled talent who are a good fit for the business. Through our thorough screening of candidates, GEA was able to be choosy and ensure they were making the right choice. GEA trusted our advice and hired someone who they would not have found through normal channels. The high-calibre candidate was also able to hit the ground running and started generating Sales within a month.
