The perfect recipe for continued growth in 2018

Congratulations! Your business is growing fast. Great news, but now you need to find a way to attract and keep top talent to help you maintain that growth through 2018, and to hit your ambitious revenue targets.

The state of the UK job market

Skills shortages across sectors in the UK has been a problem for some time now, but seem to be intensifying as the UK workforce struggles to keep pace with advancements in critical industries. Now that unemployment has fallen to levels not seen in more than a decade, there are fewer people available to take new jobs, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. This means that growing businesses in Yorkshire and elsewhere, have a smaller pool of talent to fish from than ever before.

Securing in-house talent is a necessary component to the successful scaling of your business.

High performing individuals are scarce and are increasingly so within specialist industries and amongst senior positions. Also, it is more unlikely that exceptional individuals will be actively looking for new opportunities as they will be considered a valuable asset by their current employer and being rewarded accordingly. By utilising a range of modern and traditional search techniques that are thorough and exacting to headhunt professionals who fit the exact profile and business requirements sought, executive search agencies are better placed than in-house HR teams to find that talent. Acting as an extension to the business, a good headhunter should search for both active and passive candidates and approach them to establish if they would consider a career move and what the determining factors would be. This saves companies a lot of time, mitigates risk and takes the pain out of what can be a stressful process.

Recruitment the Newman Stewart way

We pride ourselves on excellent client communications with a transparent and thorough process which ensures the cream of the crop rise to the top.

1. Meet & Understand
We take time to meet you, in order to understand you and your business, its objectives, where it has come from, where it is going to, what success might look like, why there is a need to recruit and what you expect to achieve by successfully fulfilling the assignment. Defining your needs and writing our understanding up into a detailed brief means we are better placed to sell the opportunity to prospective candidates and then assess their capability to fulfil the role, ensuring a higher chance of success.

2. Research
Define the target audience, specific markets, companies and people to approach. Our expertise in specific business sectors and roles mean that we already have a huge network of talented individuals to target.

3. Approach
We will approach the target individuals, reject candidates who do not fulfil all aspects of the brief and invite those who appear to meet the brief to interview. We may screen over 30 candidates to find you the 3 or 4 who best meet your criteria.

4. Assess
Use the brief to interview and assess the skills, behaviours and competencies of all prospective candidates and where requested utilise Psychometric Assessment tools. Provide reports on all shortlisted candidates documenting their suitability and potential areas for development.

5. Deliver
Provide reports on all search activities and shortlisted candidates to fully inform the client prior to their interviews. We then manage the candidates through the interview process, offer and start date to ensure a successful transition into their new opportunity and a greater chance of success.

6. Review
After 3 months of employment, conduct review meetings with the successful candidate and all client contacts to ensure all parties remain satisfied.
